Birthday Party / Private Event FAQs

Is a party at Little Beakers a good fit for my 5 year old?

Children as young as 3 and as old as 15 have celebrated their special day with us. When choosing between the 7 available themes, the best fit for your scientist will be their individual interests and abilities. Visit the website and click on the theme photos or open the mobile friendly version for a list of the experiments/activities included with each theme.

How many people can we invite?

We have hosted parties for groups with as few as 3 participants and as many as 60, with space for more! There is not a set limit on the number of non-participant guests that can be included. The party rooms can comfortably seat up to 24 child participants. Please note that as Open Lab will be available to the public, adult/non-participant guests will need to keep to the area designated for your event.

Who is included in the participant count?

Guests who are actively participating during all or part of the guided session will be considered participants and be included in the participant count when the final bill is calculated at the end of the guided portion of your event.

Who needs to complete a waiver?

Everyone who enters the lab (child participant and adult guests alike) must complete a General Participant Waiver. A link specific to your party will be provided that you can share with your guests. If they are unable to complete the waiver before they arrive, there will be kiosks available for them use on the day of your event.

What time does the party start?

Party reservations are for 2 hours and 15 minutes. The 15 minutes before your official party start time are for check-in and additional room set-up, followed by approximately 1-hr of themed guided hands-on science led by a Little Beakers scientist. The balance of your time (up to 1 hour) is for celebrating in your private party room. We will be ready to start your party on time. Delays to starting your event due to late arrivals will not extend/change the time in your party room. All personal items must be removed from the room at the end of your reserved time to allow for staff to clean and sanitize rooms for our next reservation.

What does the party room include?

Our classrooms double as party rooms for parties and events. Each room has counter space and includes 3 tables (two 10’x2’ and one 6’x2’) and stools for seating up to 24 people. Please see our website for pictures. If your group size will exceed the capacity of a single party room, a second room may be reserved for an additional fee on a space available basis.

Can I bring in performers/professionals for hire?

Professionals for hire are NOT permitted in the lab before, during or after your event. This includes, but is not limited to: facepainters, balloon artists, photograpers/videographers, and/or musicians.

Can I bring my own decorations?

You are welcome to bring your own decorations and party supplies, but piñatas and sparklers are not permitted. Little Beakers employees will provide tape that is paint and glass safe, upon request. For an extra fee, Little Beakers will set-up your party room before you arrive (includes: table coverings, plates (dinner and dessert sized), cups, utensils, napkins and a happy birthday banner) when requested as an add-on with your reservation.

What kind of food can we bring?

You can choose to bring your own food. You are not limited in the type of food allowed (note that Alcohol is prohibited). Refrigerator space is not available for public use. The pizza package add-on offered by Little Beakers - Sandy includes 3 large cheese and/or pepperoni pizzas and juice pouches for the participants starting at $75+tax. Additional pizzas can be ordered for $15 ea.

Is there a refrigerator, freezer, and/or oven available for use?

Freezer space may be available for ice cream. The lab does not have an oven. Refrigerator space is not available for public use. Guests will need to plan ahead for any food that requires refrigeration or heating.

Will my group have access to the Open Lab during our party/event?

After check-in, your event will start with a themed guided session (approx. 60 minutes), led by a Little Beakers scientist in a designated area of the Open Lab. The balance of your event (up to 1 hour) will be spent in your private party room. Access to Open Lab experiments is not included in party/event reservations and is not available as an add-on option.

Will other people be in the lab during my event?

Unless otherwise noted, the lab will be open to the public during parties, meaning that other parties and/or Open Lab appointments may be scheduled during your event time. The guided portion of your event takes place in a reserved area of the Open Lab. The party room is private.

Can we tour the space before booking?

You are welcome to visit Little Beakers during open hours. Access to party rooms is limited by active classes and/or events. Party rooms are assigned by Little Beakers based on schedule/availability the day of your event. Specific rooms may not be reserved in advance. Photos of the Open Lab, party room and party room set-up are available online.
